About Ian Steyaert
With more than 25 years of experience leading product and technology efforts, Ian brings a rare combination of hands-on technical expertise and strategic product vision.
Ian started his career as a full-stack engineer and quickly found he was most useful at the intersection of product, design, and technology. Over the last two and a half decades, he's led teams building:
- Retail supply-chain, eCommerce, and loyalty platforms at scale
- Innovation and R&D initiatives across web, mobile, and devices
- AI/ML-powered internal tools and decision-support systems
He's comfortable in the boardroom and in the codebase, and cares deeply about clarity, communication, and creating environments where people can do their best work.
Ian has led engineering teams, built consumer apps, architected complex back-end systems, and helped companies partner with firms like Apple, Google, and Square. He's worked with robotics companies and was part of the team that helped bring IBM's Watson to life.
This experience gives him a uniquely grounded perspective on how AI can elevate—not replace—human decision-making and design, and how to ship AI-infused products responsibly and pragmatically.
Previous companies include Whole Foods Market, Emerson, frogdesign, argodesign, Sapient, and early-stage startups.

Selected work
A few representative projects. We're happy to go deeper on any of these (within NDA constraints), or walk through how we would approach your context.
Designing and guiding implementation of a B2B platform that uses AI, RAG, and data enrichment to match suppliers and customers. Focused on multi-sided workflows, data-readiness, and pragmatic, explainable AI.
Partnered with a financial-services-focused startup to define the product vision and v1 scope for a multi-role platform that turns AI agent output into clear, explainable recommendations instead of raw transcripts and disconnected charts.
Designed end-to-end UX from 360° customer and portfolio views, through cross-agent insight summaries, to recommendation flows that users can inspect, adjust, and act on. Created hero demo flows for product managers, data scientists, and IT/data teams, along with an initial design system and interaction patterns to support an enterprise-ready implementation.
Led and contributed to initiatives spanning inventory, supply-chain, loyalty programs, mobile apps, and web experiences—connecting operational systems to customer-facing value.
Collaborated with clinical and research teams to design future workflows that combine robotics, automation, and scheduling optimization to improve patient and staff experience.
Designed and built tailored CRM, scheduling, and project-tracking tools for small and mid-sized businesses, making complex operations manageable for non-technical teams. And, selected and implemented off-the-shelf tools when more appropriate.
